SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: REAR AIRBAG SENSOR: REMOVAL

REMOVAL
HINT:
- Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
- The following procedure is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION: Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE Removal
4. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP Removal
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY Removal
6. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)
7. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK OUTER HINGE COVER (for LH Side) Removal
8. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK INNER HINGE COVER (for LH Side) Removal
9. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side) Removal
10. REMOVE REAR SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
11. REMOVE REAR SEAT CENTER HEADREST ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)
12. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT CENTER OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) Removal
13. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK OUTER HINGE COVER (for RH Side) Removal
14. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK INNER HINGE COVER (for RH Side) Removal
15. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side) Removal
16. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
17. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH Removal
18. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.
(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.





(c) Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.
NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(d) Remove the nut and disengage the pin, and remove the rear airbag sensor.
NOTE: Loosen the nut while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
