INTRODUCTION:
Some 2009 - 2010 Venza vehicles may exhibit a rattle condition from the center of the instrument panel. Use the following procedure to correct this condition.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







1. Using a plastic pry tool, remove the 2 front wiper arm head caps as shown in the illustration.







2. Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly LH.







3. Remove the nut and the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH.







4. Disengage the claw and 2 guides and remove the front fender to cowl side seal LH.
5. Disengage the claw and 2 guides and remove front fender to cowl side seal RH.
6. Remove the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.







A. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.







B. Disengage the 13 claws and pull out the cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.







7. Remove the RH Instrument Panel Reinforcement Mounting Bolt and inspect for a loose or cross threaded condition.
8. If the bolt is found loose, reinstall and tighten.
9. If the bolt is found cross threaded, clean the threads with 6 mm x 1.0 pitch tap and replace the bolt and tighten.

Torque: 17 N-m (175 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)


NOTE:
Ensure the rubber washer on the bolt is compressed to properly seal the hole.


10. Reassembly is reverse of disassembly.
11. Road test to confirm repair.
