Applicability

Introduction

Some 2009 Venzas equipped with front seat heaters may exhibit a condition of a bump or hard spot in the front seat cushion cover. Revised seat cushion covers are available to correct this condition.

Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove front seat assembly.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) 2009 Venza Repair Manual:

Vehicle Interior- Seat - "Seat Front Seat Assembly (for Power Seat): Removal"





2. Using a molding remover disengage the 4 claws and remove the reclining power seat switch knob.

3. Remove slide and vertical power seat switch knob.





A. Using a molding remover disengage the 2 claws and remove the slide and vertical power seat switch knob.

4. Remove front seat cushion shield assembly.





A. Disengage the 2 hooks.





B. Remove the 5 screws.

C. Disengage the claw.

D. Disengage the guide and remove the front seat cushion shield assembly.





E. Disconnect the connector from the front power seat lumbar switch.

5. Remove front seat cushion shield.

A. Remove the screw.





B. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front inner No. 1 seat cushion shield.

6. Remove power seat switch.





A. Remove the 3 screws.

B. Disconnect the connector and remove the power seat switch.

7. Remove front seat inner belt assembly.

A. Disconnect each connector and disengage each clamp.





B. Remove the nut and the front seat inner belt assembly.

8. Remove front seat cushion inner shield.





A. Remove the screw.

B. Disengage the claw.





C. Disengage the guide and remove the front seat cushion inner shield.

9. Remove front seat cushion cover with pad.





A. Disengage the 4 hooks.





B. Disengage each clamp and the connector.





C. Disengage the 2 hooks.





D. Disengage each hook.





E. Remove the front seat cushion cover with pad.





10. Remove the 18 hog rings and the front seat cushion cover.

Reassembly





1. Using hog ring pliers install the new front seat cushion cover with 18 new hog rings.

NOTICE

^ Be careful not to damage the cover.

^ When installing the hog rings, take care to minimize wrinkles as much as possible.

2. Reassemble remainder of front seat assembly in reverse order of disassembly.

3. Install Front Seat Inner Belt Assembly.





A. Install the front seat inner belt assembly with the nut.

Torque: 42 N*m (428 kgf*cm, 31 ft*lbf)

NOTICE

Do not allow the anchor part of the front seat inner belt assembly to overlap the protruding part of the front seat adjuster.

B. Connect each connector and engage each clamp.

4. Reinstall front seat assembly.
