System Specifications
SURFACE VARIATIONCRANKSHAFT
Step 1:
Using several steps, uniformly install and tighten the 10 bearing cap bolts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15ft-lbf)
Step 2:
Tighten the 10 bearing cap bolts again in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Torque 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30ft-lbf)
If a crankshaft bearing cap bolt does not meet the specified torque, replace it.
Step 3:
Mark the front of the bearing cap bolts with paint.
Tighten the 10 bearing cap bolts 90° in the same sequence.
Check that the paint marks are now at a 90° angle to the front.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
There are 4 sizes of standard bearings, marked "1", "2", "3" and "4" accordingly.
EXAMPLE
Cylinder block (A) "3" + Crankshaft (B) "4" = Total "7"
Select the bearing marked "3".

PISTON WITH CONNECTING ROD
Temporarily install the connecting rod bolts.
The connecting rod bolts are tightened in 2 progressive steps.
Step 1:
Alternately tighten the connecting rod bolts in several steps.
Torque 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30ft-lbf)
Step 2:
Mark the front of the connecting rod bolts with paint.
Tighten the bolts 90° as shown in the illustration.
Check that the paint marks are now at a 90° angle to the front.
Check that the crankshaft turns smoothly.
There are 3 sizes of standard bearings, marked "1", "2" and "3" accordingly.
Standard crank pin diameter:
51.492 to 51.500 mm (2.0272 to 2.0276 in.)
