Applicability

Introduction

Some 2009 - 2010 Venza vehicles equipped with factory theft deterrent system may exhibit false triggering of the security horn when the vehicle is undisturbed. A newly designed hood latch assembly is now available to address this issue.

This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.





Warranty Information

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.





Parts Information

Repair Procedure

1. Remove the hood lock assembly. Follow the procedure in the Repair Manual for hood lock control cable assembly removal. Use the instructions for vehicles "with Engine Hood Courtesy Switch".

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model year Venza Repair Manual:

^ 2009 / 2010 Venza:
Vehicle Exterior - Door/Hatch - "Door/Hatch: Hood Lock Control Cable Assembly: Removal"

NOTE
Disconnect the control cable from the latch assembly but do NOT remove the control cable from the vehicle.

2. Install the replacement part, then re-attach the hood lock control cable assembly.
