AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: B1423/23: Pressure Sensor Circuit

DTC B1423/23 - Pressure Sensor Circuit

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when the refrigerant pressure is either extremely low (0.19 Mpa [2.0 kgf/cm2, 28 psi] or less) or extremely high (3.14 Mpa [32.0 kgf/cm2, 455 psi] or more). The pressure sensor, which is installed on the pipe of the high pressure side, detects the refrigerant pressure and sends a refrigerant pressure signal to the air conditioning amplifier. The air conditioning amplifier determines the pressure from the signals in accordance with the sensor characteristics, and controls the compressor.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK REFRIGERANT

(a) Check the sight glass of the cooler unit refrigerant liquid pipe.
(1) Prepare the vehicle in accordance with the chart below.

(2) Compare the sight glass to the following chart.

HINT: *: If the ambient temperature is higher than usual but cooling is sufficient, bubbles in the sight glass are permissible.

NG -- CHARGE REFRIGERANT
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REGULATOR PRESSURE SENSOR)
(a) Warm up the engine.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(d) Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester main switch ON.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(f) Turn the tester on.
(g) Select the following menus: Body Electrical / Air Conditioner / Data List /
(h) According to the display on tester, read the "Data List".
Data List / Air Conditioner:

OK:
The display is as specified in the normal condition column.
Result:

C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PRESSURE SENSOR - AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER)

(a) Disconnect the A3 air conditioning pressure sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the E8 air conditioning amplifier connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:

(d) Reconnect the air conditioning pressure sensor connector.
(e) Reconnect the air conditioning amplifier connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER

(a) Remove the air conditioning amplifier with its connectors still connected.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:

(c) Turn the ignition switch ON.
(d) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:

(e) Reinstall the air conditioning amplifier.
NG -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING PRESSURE SENSOR
(a) Remove the air conditioning amplifier with its connectors still connected.

(b) Set the manifold gauge.
(c) Warm up the engine.
(d) Turn the A/C switch ON.
(e) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:

(f) Reinstall the air conditioning amplifier.
NG -- REPLACE LIQUID TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY A (AIR CONDITIONING PRESSURE SENSOR)
OK -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
