C1249
BRAKE CONTROL: ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (for Sedan): C1249/49: Open in Stop Light Switch Circuit
DTC C1249/49 - Open in Stop Light Switch Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The skid control ECU detects the brake operating conditions through a signal transmitted by the stop light switch. The skid control ECU incorporates an open circuit detection circuit. This DTC is set under either of the following conditions:
- An open is detected in the stop light signal input line when the stop light switch is off.
- An open is detected in the stop light circuit lead to the ground when the stop light switch is off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the tester on.
(d) Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List.
DATA LIST: ABS
(e) Check that "Stop lamp SW" is turned ON and OFF when the brake pedal is depressed and released.
OK:
"Stop lamp SW" is turned ON and OFF in accordance with the operation of the brake pedal.
NG -- INSPECT FUSE (STOP)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
OK -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR
3. INSPECT FUSE (STOP)
(a) Remove the STOP fuse from the main body ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
NG -- CHECK FOR SHORTS IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - STOP LIGHT SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the stop light switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Clear the DTC ABS (Antilock Brake System) (for Sedan).
(b) Check if the same DTC is output ABS (Antilock Brake System) (for Sedan).
Result:
B -- END
A -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR
