DTC C0274/14 - Short to B+ in ABS Motor Relay Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The ABS motor relay supplies the power to the ABS pump motor. While the ABS is activated, the skid control ECU switches the motor relay ON and operates the ABS pump motor.

HINT: C0273/13 and C0274/14: The skid control ECU begins to detect these DTCs when the vehicle speed exceeds 4 mph (6 km/h).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT FUSE (ABS1/VSC1)

(a) Remove the ABS1/VSC1 fuse from the engine room R/ B.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
Below 1 Ohms
NG -- CHECK FOR SHORTS IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ABS MOTOR RELAY)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the tester on.
(d) Clear the DTCs ABS (Antilock Brake System) (for Sedan).
(e) Perform the active test using the Techstream.
Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/ TRC / Active Test.

ACTIVE TEST: ABS

(f) Check for the operation sound of the ABS motor when operating it with the Techstream.
OK:
The operation sound of the ABS motor can be heard.
NG -- REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Clear the DTC(s) ABS (Antilock Brake System) (for Sedan).
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Drive the vehicle at 4 mph (6 km/h) or more to activate the initial check.
(d) Check if the same DTC(s) is output ABS (Antilock Brake System) (for Sedan).
