Front Passenger Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction - Airbag System
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1635/24: Front Passenger Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction
DTC B1635/24 - Front Passenger Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The rear airbag sensor RH consists of parts including the diagnostic circuit and the lateral deceleration sensor.
When the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch on, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(c) Turn the ignition switch off.
(d) Turn the ignition switch on, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
OK:
DTC B1635/24 is not output.
HINT: DTCs other than DTC B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the rear airbag sensor RH.
OK:
The connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (FOR OPEN)
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH and the rear airbag sensor RH.
(b) Using a service wire, connect J14-2 (BCR+) and J14-1 (BCR-) of connector C.
NOTE: Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (FOR SHORT)
(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO B+)
(a) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the ignition switch on.
(c) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO GROUND)
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly.
(b) Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with the rear airbag sensor RH and connect the connectors to them.
(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(d) Turn the ignition switch on, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(f) Turn the ignition switch off.
(g) Turn the ignition switch on, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(h) Check the DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
Result:
B -- REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH
A -- CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
8. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the lock position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Return the airbag sensor rear LH and airbag sensor rear RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Interchange the side airbag sensor RH with the side airbag sensor LH and connect the connectors to them.
(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(f) Turn the ignition switch to the on position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(g) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the lock position.
(i) Turn the ignition switch to the on position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(j) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.
Result:
B -- REPLACE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH
A -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY
C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
