INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect a Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.
(e) Select the item "Motor Actual Current" and "Command Value Current" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream.
Standard current:
HINT: The current changes when steering wheel is turned.
OK -- CHECK INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT POWER STEERING ECU
(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(b) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:
OK -- INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (POWER STEERING MOTOR)
NG -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU - BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance and the voltage.
Standard:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY (POWER STEERING MOTOR)
(a) Disconnect the connector from the power steering ECU.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
