2010 model year Repair manual links have been added to Repair procedures A & B. Any previous printed versions of this service bulletin should be discarded.
Introduction
Some Yaris vehicles may exhibit a condition where corrosion appears on or near the trunk lid around the license plate garnish area. Performing the following procedure will correct this condition and prevent it from recurring.
Production Change Information
This TSB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

It is important to note that the above labor time is for the mechanical labor only. This time does not include preparation time and paint materials required to complete this repair. Use typical body shop sublet claim practice when filing a claim for the additional labor and materials associated with this repair.
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Toyota Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
Repair Procedure
Confirm the ID code on the label. If part has an ID code of S901 or earlier perform repair procedure A. If after perform procedure B. Examples of codes after this are S902 or SX##.
NOTE
Due to varying degrees of staining that can develop, some vehicles may need to be repainted (or stain will need to be cleaned).
Repair Procedure A
Perform the following procedure if the service part identification code is S901 or earlier.
1. Remove the garnish from the trunk lid.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 model year Yaris

2. Repair the affected painted surface on the trunk.
3. On the back side of the NEW service part peel back the black sponge material on the LH and/or RH side.
4. Remove / trim off the boss from garnish by using a utility knife.
5. Repeat for the opposite side.
6. Lay sponge material back down to original position.
7. Install the NEW garnish on the vehicle refer to TIS applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

Repair Procedure B
Perform the following procedure if the service part identification code is after S902.
1. Remove the garnish from the trunk lid refer to TIS applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
2007 / 2008 / 2009 / 2010 model year Yaris
Vehicle Exterior - Lighting - "License Plate Light Assembly (for Sedan): Removal"
2. Repair the affected painted surface on the trunk
3. Install the NEW garnish on the vehicle refer to TIS applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
