Removal





INTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: ROOF HEADLINING: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

2. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

3. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

4. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal

5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal

6. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE METER HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH

(a) Disengage the 8 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.





11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH

(a) Disengage the clip and claw, and remove the cowl side trim board LH.





12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

(a) Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip LH.





13. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Pull the upper part of the garnish toward the inside of the cabin and disengage the garnish from the base of 2 clips.





HINT
Make the front pillar garnish LH hang down from the front pillar garnish clip.

(b) Turn the end of the front pillar garnish clip 90 ° with needle-nosed pliers and remove it from the front pillar garnish LH.





NOTICE:
* Front pillar garnish clips are reusable if they are not removed from the vehicle and have no damage.
* Replace the front pillar garnish clips with new ones if they are removed from the vehicle.

HINT
Tape the tips of the needle-nosed pliers before use.

(c) Disengage the 2 guides at the front end of the front pillar garnish LH and remove it.

(d) Protect the curtain shield airbag assembly.





(1) Cover the airbag with a 700 mm (27.5 in.) x 120 mm (4.72 in.) cloth or piece of nylon and secure the ends of the cover with tape, as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Cover the curtain shield airbag with a protective cover as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.

14. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate LH.





28. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH

(a) Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip LH.





29. REMOVE LAP BELT OUTER ANCHOR COVER (for Driver Side) Removal

30. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

31. REMOVE LOWER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips, and remove the lower center pillar garnish LH.





32. REMOVE UPPER CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Using a clip remover, disengage the clip and remove the upper center pillar garnish LH.

33. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and clip and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish LH.





62. DISCONNECT REAR SEAT 3 POINT TYPE BELT ASSEMBLY LH Removal

63. REMOVE LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)

(a) for front side:

(1) Remove the bolt and luggage hold belt striker assembly.





(b) for rear side:

(1) Remove the bolt and luggage hold belt striker assembly.





64. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM HOOK (for LH Side)

(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Disengage the claws, and remove the 2 No. 1 luggage compartment trim hooks.

65. REMOVE REAR COMBINATION LIGHT SERVICE COVER LH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and 2 guides, and remove the rear combination light service cover LH.





66. REMOVE SIDE DECK TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and remove the side deck trim panel assembly LH.





67. REMOVE QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 2 claws, 3 clips and 2 guides, and remove the quarter pillar garnish LH.





68. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH

(a) Disengage the 7 clips and remove the roof side inner garnish LH.





69. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK HINGE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

70. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH RH

(a) Disengage the 4 claws and clip and guide, and remove the rear seat side garnish RH.

(a) Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.





(b) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the visor assembly LH.





(c) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

84. REMOVE VISOR ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

85. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a clip remover, disengage the 4 claws.





NOTICE:
Do not forcibly pry the assist grip covers to prevent them from being deformed.

HINT
* Gently pry on the assist grip covers as shown in the illustration to remove them.
* Tape the clip remover tip before use.

(b) Pull off the 2 assist grip covers by hand.

(c) Disengage the 2 clips and remove the assist grip sub-assembly.





(d) Remove the 2 clips from the vehicle body.

HINT
Use the same procedure for the other 3 assist grips.

86. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER

(a) Turn the visor holder approximately 45° and pull it out as shown in the illustration.





(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the visor holder.

HINT
Use the same procedure for the RH side and the LH side.

87. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof)

(a) w/ EC Mirror:

(1) Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.

(b) Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.

(c) Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.

(d) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.

(e) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.

(f) Remove the 2 clips.





(g) Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.





NOTICE:
Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

88. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (w/ Sliding Roof)

(a) w/ EC Mirror:

(1) Disconnect the inner rear view mirror connector.

(b) Disengage each clamp from the front pillar LH.

(c) Disconnect the No. 1 roof wire connectors from the instrument panel junction block.

(d) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and disengage each clamp from the front pillar RH.

(e) Disconnect the antenna cord sub-assembly connector and remove the bolt from the rear pillar RH.

(f) Disconnect the sliding roof drive gear connector.

(g) Remove the 2 clips.





(h) Remove the roof headlining assembly from the vehicle through the back door.





NOTICE:
Do not damage the roof headlining assembly or body interior.

89. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/o Sliding Roof)

(a) Remove the 3 No. 1 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.





90. REMOVE NO. 1 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/ Sliding Roof)

(a) Remove the 2 No. 1 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.





91. REMOVE NO. 2 ROOF SILENCER PAD (w/o Sliding Roof)

(a) Remove the 3 No. 2 roof silencer pads from the roof headlining assembly.





92. REMOVE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o Sliding Roof) Removal

(a) Remove the adhesive tape from the roof headlining assembly.

(a) Remove the adhesive tape from the roof headlining assembly.

(b) Disengage the 3 clamps, and remove the No. 1 roof wire from the roof headlining assembly.
