HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
Lower Instrument Panel
2. TURN FRONT WHEELS TO FACE STRAIGHT AHEAD
3. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM Service and Repair
4. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system Service Precautions.
5. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and slide the hook connector.
(b) Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction hose sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
6. DISCONNECT LIQUID PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the liquid pipe sub-assembly.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the liquid pipe sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
7. DISCONNECT HEATER OUTLET WATER HOSE
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the heater outlet water hose.
NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the heater outlet water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
8. DISCONNECT HEATER INLET WATER HOSE
HINT
Disconnection procedure for the heater inlet water hose is the same as that for the heater outlet water hose.
9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

55. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB REINFORCEMENT Removal
56. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
57. REMOVE TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER (w/ Engine Immobiliser System) Removal
58. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
59. REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY Removal
60. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
61. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY Removal
62. REMOVE REAR NO. 3 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Turn back the floor carpet.
(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 3 air duct.
63. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)
(a) Remove the clip.
(b) Turn back the floor carpet.
(c) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.
64. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT (w/ Rear Air Duct)
(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.
65. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER CONNECTOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the center instrument panel register connector assembly.
66. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 nuts and the No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.
67. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the center instrument panel to cowl brace.
68. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Disengage each clamp.
(d) Remove the 2 screws.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts, the 2 nuts, and the instrument panel brace sub-assembly.
69. REMOVE HEATER COVER (w/ Cover)
(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the heater cover.
70. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage each clamp and the wire harness.
(b) Disconnect each connector.
(c) Disengage each clamp.
(d) Remove the 9 bolts, and disengage the wire harness and junction block.
(e) Remove the 7 bolts.
(f) Remove the 3 bolts and the instrument panel reinforcement assembly.
71. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT
(a) Disengage the drain cooler hose.
(b) Remove the bolt, the nut, and the air conditioning unit.
NOTICE:
* Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause the bracket of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
* When disassembling the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent the components from being damaged.
72. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 3 air duct sub-assembly.
73. REMOVE BLOWER ASSEMBLY (w/o PTC Heater)
(a) Remove the 3 screws and the blower assembly.
74. REMOVE BLOWER ASSEMBLY (w/ PTC Heater)
(a) Disengage each clamp.
(b) Remove the screw and disengage the quick heater connector.
(c) Remove the 3 screws and the blower assembly.
