Drivers Side/passengers Side Side Airbag, Removing And Installing --> 04.03

NOTE: Removal and installation is described for left side of vehicle. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the right-hand side.

Removing


CAUTION:
- Observe safety precautions for working on airbags
- Never let anyone sit in the passenger compartment when the airbag system is being worked on, especially when the airbag system is being connected to a power source or the battery is being reconnected.

- Switch ignition off.
- Open doors.
- Disconnect battery ground (GND) strap
- Remove driver/passenger seat (use Airbag adapter VAS 5094 )
- Remove backrest frame and remove backrest cover and cushion.







- Unscrew bolts - 2 - (Qty. 2, 7 Nm).







- Disconnect connector - 3 - from airbag unit - 1 -.
- Pull off airbag unit - 1 - from backrest frame - 4 -.

Installing

CAUTION: Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Close doors.
- Connect battery ground (GND) strap
- Switch ignition on after installing all components.

NOTE: After connecting battery, vehicle options (radio, clock, electric window regulator) must be checked according to repair manual and/or user manual.
