Front Seat Belt With Belt Tensioner, Removing And Installing
WARNING!
- Before starting any work on the seat belts or the seat belt tensioning system See Safety precautions.
- Before starting any body disassembly, straightening or other body repair work, the belt tensioning units must be removed.
CAUTION!
After an accident in which one or both belt tensioners have been activated, both seat belts must be replaced (the belts will no longer retract).
1 - Belt height adjustment
- To remove height adjustment mechanism, first remove trim on top of B pillar
2 - Socket head screw
- 23 Nm (17 ft.lb)
3 - Belt relay
4 - Belt guide cover
5 - Bolt
- 40 Nm (30 ft.lb)
6 - Front belt buckle (latch)
7 - Anchor rail
8 - Socket head bolt
- 23 Nm (17 ft.lb)
9 - Bolt
- 40 Nm (30 ft.lb)
10 - Washer
11 - Bolt
- 40 Nm (30 ft.lb)
- Loosen bolt to disable belt tensioner; tighten bolt to return tensioner to operational condition again (only vehicles with mechanical belt tensioner).
12 - Seat belt with belt tensioner
- Two different belt tensioners are installed:
- Mechanical belt tensioner and pyrotechnic (electric) belt tensioner.
- Retaining tabs determine position of belt reel
- Loosen bolt -11- to disable belt tensioner; tighten bolt -11- to return tensioner to operational condition again (only vehicles with mechanical belt tensioner).

- For pyrotechnic (electric) belt tensioner only
14 - Screws
- 1.5 Nm (13 in.lb)
15 - Belt guide
- Secured with 2 screws
