Oil Pan Lower Section, Installing with Fluid Seal
Special Tools and Workshop Equipment Required:
- Torque Wrench -V.A.G 1331-
- Silicone Sealant -D 176 404 A2-
- Hand Drill with Plastic Brush Attachment
- Flat Scraper
- Protective Eyewear
Procedure
NOTE:
Replace seals.
CAUTION!!
A fluid seal must be used on engines that were originally equipped with a rotating plastic brush.
WARNING!!
Wear Safety Glasses.
- Clean sealing surfaces so they are completely free of any oil or grease.
- Cut tube nozzle at front marking (Nozzle 0 approximately 1 mm).
- Apply sealant bead -arrow- on clean sealing surface of lower part of oil pan as shown in illustration.
- Thickness of sealant bead: approximately 1.5 mm.
NOTE:
- The oil pan (lower part) must be installed within 5 minutes after application of sealant
- Sealant bead must not be thicker than specified, otherwise sealant could get into oil pan and clog the oil pump strainer.
- Set lower part of oil pan in place and fasten all bolts in diagonal sequence to 5 Nm.
- Fasten bolts for lower part of oil pan in a diagonal sequence.
- Install stabilizer, refer to:
- Add engine oil and check oil level.
