ATF lines, removing and installing





1. Hex cap screw, 5 Nm
- Before tightening, insert line by hand until it can go no further
2. O-ring
- Coat with ATF
- Always replace
3. ATF line
- With connection from secondary ATF cooler arrow- to transmission
- From thermostat to transmission

- From thermostat to secondary ATF cooler
5. Cap nut, 25 Nm
6. ate line
- from ATF cooler to thermostat
7. Thermostat
8. Hex screw, 5 Nm
- Before tightening, insert line by hand until it can go no further
9. Hex screw, 20 Nm
- Before tightening, insert line by hand until it can go no further
10. ATF line
- From transmission to ATF cooler
11. Hex cap screw, 9 Nm
12. Cap nut, 30 Nm
- Thread connections cannot be crossed
13. Clip
14. Hex screw, 5 Nm
15. Secondary ATF cooler

Secondary ATF cooler, removing and installing

Special tools and equipment





- VAG 1306 Drip tray





- VAG 1331 Torque wrench or equivalent

Removing
- Remove cover from front bumper.
- Place VAG 1306 or equivalent drip tray underneath.
- Thoroughly clean area where ATF line/secondary ATF cooler connect.





- Disconnect ATF lines from secondary ATF cooler -arrows-.
- Plug ATF lines and secondary ATF cooler with clean stoppers.





- Remove screw -1- from secondary ATF cooler -arrow A-.
- Remove screw -2- from holder -arrow B-.
- Remove bolt -3- from secondary ATF cooler -arrow A- and remove secondary ATF cooler.

Installing





- Insert secondary ATF cooler -arrow A- and tighten screws -3-.
- Tighten screw-2- on holder-arrow B-.
- Tighten screw -1- on secondary ATF cooler -arrow A-.





- Always replace O-rings -1-.
- Moisten O-rings -1- with ATF.
- Ensure that O-rings are seated correctly so they do not slip out of position when ATF lines are inserted.
- Insert ATF lines -2- by hand into secondary ATF cooler until they can go no further.
- Do not tighten screws -3- Until ATF lines have been fully inserted.
- Check ATF level and top up.





- Check connections of ATF lines -2- while checking ATF level (look for leaks).
- Replace front bumper cover.

Tightening torques





Secondary ATF cooler to body
1. Torx screw, 5 Nm
2. Torx screw, 5 Nm
3. Hex cap screw, 5 Nm
