After-Run Coolant Pump: Testing and Inspection



After-run coolant pump, checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Diode test lamp V.A.G 1527 B





^ Adapter set V.A.G 1594 A

Requirements





^ Fuse No. 16 OK

Work sequence
- Disconnect 2-pin connector from After-run coolant pump -V51-.





- Connect contacts of After-run coolant pump -V51- to battery using auxiliary cables from V.A.G 1594 A.
- After-run coolant pump must start.

If after-run coolant pump does not start:
- Replace After-run coolant pump -V51-.

If the After-run coolant pump -V51- starts:
- Switch ignition off and on again.





- Connect diode test lamp V.A.G 1527 B to disconnected connector of After-run coolant pump -V51- with auxiliary cables from V.A.G 1594 A.
- LED must light up

Note:
^ This check must be performed within 10 minutes after switching ignition off.

If LED does not light up:
- Locate and eliminate open circuit referring to wiring diagram.
