^ Torque wrench V.A.G 1332
Removing
- Remove toothed belt.
- Remove crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. Counterhold sprocket with counter support 3415.
- To guide seal extractor, thread center bolt into crankshaft onto limit stop by hand.
- Unscrew inner part of oil seal extractor 3203 nine turns (approx. 20 mm) out of outer part and lock with knurled screw.
- Lubricate threaded head of oil seal extractor 3203, place it in position and exerting firm pressure screw it into oil seal as far as possible.

Installing
- Observe notes
Note:
^ Gradual introduction of PTFE oil seal (identifying characteristics: no annular spring, sealing lip wider). The sealing lip of this oil ring must not be oiled or lubricated. A plain encased seal of older construction (with annular spring) may be replaced with a PTFE oil seal, but not vice versa.
Sealing ring with annular spring
- Fit guide sleeve T10053/1 onto crankshaft journal.
- Oil sealing ring lip lightly and slide sealing ring onto guide sleeve T10053/1.
PTFE seal
- Remove oil residue from crankshaft journal using clean cloth.
- Fit guide sleeve T10053/1 free of oil onto crankshaft journal.
- Slide dry seal onto guide sleeve T10053/1.
Continuation for both seal versions
- Press oil seal in onto limit stop with press sleeve T10053 and bolt T10053/2 (M16 x 1.5 x 60).
- Install crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. Counterhold sprocket with counter support 3415.
- Tighten new center bolt.
- Tightening torque: 90 Nm plus 1/4 turn (90°)
Note:
^ Center bolt thread and shoulder must be free of oil and grease.
- Install and tension toothed belt.
