- As standard, front exhaust pipe and rear mufflers are installed as a single component. In repair cases the front exhaust pipe and rear muffler are supplied individually with a double clamp for connecting together.
- Cut through connecting pipe with body saw e.g. V.A.G 1523 at right angles at separating point

Checking installation position of double clamp
- Position double clamp approx. 5 mm away from marking "A" -arrow 1 -.

NOTE:
- Marking "A"- arrow 1- for vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
- Marking "S"- arrow 2- is not valid for this engine.







Installation position of mounting
- Angled side on base of mounting -arrow- points forward.







Separating point on exhaust pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
- Body saw, e.g. V.A.G 1523

Work sequence
- Separate exhaust pipe at right angles at separating point -arrow 2 -.
- When installing position repair double clamp -4- on side markings -arrows -1- and -3-
- Tightening torque: 40 Nm







Aligning front muffler free of stress
The mounting pins on the front muffler must run parallel with the tunnel bridge (dimension -x- is equal on left and right).
