Trailing Arm Bonded Rubber Bushings

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Thrust Plate (VW 401)

Thrust Plate (VW 402)

Installation Device (3372)

Assembly Tool (T10230)

Removing

- Remove the trailing arm. Refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Bracket ] Removal and Replacement.

- Clamp the trailing arm in a vise so that the bracket - 1 - makes contact with the vise - arrow -.






- Remove the bolt - 2 -.

- Install the special tools as shown in the illustration.






1. Tube (T10230/3)

2. Thrust piece (T10230/10)

3. Installation device (3372)

4. Thrust plate (VW 401)

5. Thrust plate (VW 402)


- Press out the bonded rubber bushing.

Installing

Position the bonded rubber bushing as follows:






1. Draw a connection line between the gap - arrow A - and the recess - arrow B -, for example, with a straight edge.

2. Align the bonded rubber bushing so that the upper right tab - 1 - is to the left of the line.

3. The lower left tab - 2 - must be located on the right of the connection line.


Always make sure that bonded rubber bushings are in the correct installed position to the bushing of trailing arm.

- Install the special tools as shown in the illustration.

2. Thrust plate (T10230/12) , chamfer must point to the bonded rubber bushing

3. Bonded rubber bushing

4. Installation device (3372)

5. Thrust plate (VW 402)


- Press in the bonded rubber bushing until flush.

- Install the bracket to the trailing arm. Refer to => [ Determining the Installed Position of the Bracket Relative to the Trailing Arm ] Removal and Replacement.

- Install the trailing arm. Refer to => [ Installing ] Removal and Replacement..
