Replacing

Removal

• Due to the different types of steel and material strength, use only welding equipment approved by Volkswagen to perform any service work.

• For a list of welding equipment and body tools approved by Volkswagen, refer to ServiceNet.

Depending on the damage, a partial replacement of the wheel housing - 1 - using a separation cut - 2 -.






- Separate the original connection.






- Remove residual material.

Installing

• Use only welding equipment approved by Volkswagen. Refer to ServiceNet.

Preparing New Parts

• Wheel housing

• Suspension strut tower

• Suspension Strut Tower Reinforcement

- Fit the suspension strut tower mount reinforcement into the suspension strut tower and then weld it using a straight-line spot weld seam.











- Drill holes with a 8 mm diameter for a gas shielded arc plug weld seam.

Welding

- Fit new parts to vehicle standing on alignment bracket set and secure.

- Check fit with attachments.






- Weld the wheel housing and suspension strut using a gas-shielded arc plug weld seam and straight-line spot weld seam.






- Place the drilling template - 1 - on the alignment bracket - 4 -.

- Drill 11 mm holes - 2 - into the suspension strut tower - 3 -.

- Install upper wheel housing longitudinal member.
