Intake Air Heater: Testing and Inspection
NOTE: Check attachment and seal of:
- preheating hose
- air filter housing
- inlet hose
- air intake (in front of radiator)
- fresh air hose
1. Check air cleaner (ACL) and remove throttle housing:
- Remove the air filter.
- Check inside ACL, clean if necessary.
- Undo air duct connections.
- Carefully pull housing from mountings.
- Remove throttle body (TB) from ACL by pressing two snap fasteners and pulling housing at the same time.
2. Check throttle function:
- bearings and mountings
- spring
- thermostat, cool thermostat (with a spray for example)
Throttle position at various temperatures:
A = greater than or equal to +5°C (41°F) (preheated air only)
B = about +10°C (50°F)
C = less than or equal to +15°C (59°F) (cold air only)
3. Assemble ACL:
- Assemble the TB.
- Install ACL in car.
- Connect all hoses and connectors.
- Reinstall the air filter, replace if necessary.
