First Generation Seats





The Seat Frame

Lift the front seats.
Remove the SIPS bag and seat heater connectors and wiring.
Release the wiring from the backrest.

Remove:







- two screws per side and the fitting.







- the 5 half moon clips from each side of the underside cushion.







- the 4 half moon clips from the underside cushion.







- the 3 half moon clips from rear edge of the underside.







- One half moon clip from each side.
The bottom is located in the spring.







Fold up the upholstery.

Remove:
- the connectors and wiring from the cross stay.







- the two screwed joints on the cross stay.
- one nut and two washers for the rear height adjuster mounting.
- one nut for the front height adjuster mounting.
- the outer nut.

Pull straight out.
Angle the rail and the seat base so that they come apart.
Angle and turn the gas strut.
Replace the seat base.

Install:
In reverse order.

NOTE: Do not tighten the cross stay screwed joint before the seat has been installed in the car.

Otherwise there is a risk that the seat will not be straight and the inside of the seat will be stressed.
