Amplifier
INTRODUCTION
- NOTE! Read through the whole installation instruction before starting the work.
- The front page gives the date of this edition and the edition it replaces
- The second page shows the tools needed for the installation and the contents of the installation kit
- The illustrations display the procedure in order of operation. The order of operation is repeated in the text section
- Cut out the text page in order to follow the illustrations and text at the same time.
Amplifier
Note! This accessory is connected to the electrical system of the car. It requires software unique to the car.
- Turn the ignition key to position 0
- Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Note! Wait at least five minutes before disconnecting the connectors or removing other electrical equipment.
Points 2-14 apply to the V50
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.
Removing the sill trim panel from the tailgate:
- Pry off the four external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate
- Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel using a weatherstrip tool so that the two clips at that end release
- Pull up the sill trim panel so the remaining six clips release. Remove the panel.
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the left-hand side panel in the boot opening.
- Fold the seat cushion and backrest forward on both the right and left-hand sides of the rear seat.
Removing the left-hand side cushion:
- Grasp the upper edge of the left-hand side cushion (A). Pull the side cushion forward so that the clip on the reverse releases
- Slide the side cushion upwards.
Removing the panel at the front/top of the side panel:
- Remove the screw at the rear edge of the panel (B) at the front/top of the left-hand side panel
- Pull the panel upwards so that the four clips on the inside release.
- Pull off the rubber strip (A) at the rear of the opening for the left-hand rear door.
Removing the lower panel on the C-post:
- Carefully pry off the lower panel (B) on the C-post at the top edge. Use a plastic straightening tool
- Pull the C-post panel downwards until all four clips have released.
Removing the left-hand side panel:
- Fold out the load securing eyelets on the left-hand side panel
- Insert a scriber with an angled tip into the holes in the top of the covers (1). Turn the scriber so that the tip engages the reverse of the cover. Pull the cover off
- Remove the two screws from the load securing eyelets
- Remove the screw (2) at the front/top edge of the side panel
- Pull off the side panel at the top so that the two clips at the rear/bottom of the side window and the clip at the bottom of the D-post release
- Lift out the side panel.
- Remove the insulation around the existing amplifier. First remove the three clips.
Applies to cars without RTI (road traffic information)
Installing the amplifier:
- Remove the three nuts holding the amplifier to the body
- Pull the amplifier out slightly. Disconnect the three connectors on the underside. Put the amplifier to one side. It will not be used again
- Take the new amplifier from the kit. Connect the connectors on the underside
- Install the amplifier on the studs
- Install and tighten the three nuts. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf. ft.)
- Install the insulation around the amplifier.

- Remove the three nuts holding the amplifier to the body
- Pull out the amplifier. Place the amplifier on the cargo compartment floor with the reverse upwards.

- Remove the screw that holds the bracket with the GPS antenna in the amplifier
- Unhook the bracket from the amplifier
- Remove the three connectors from the bottom of the amplifier. Place the amplifier to one side. It will not be used again
- Install the bracket with the GPS antenna on the new amplifier. Tighten the bracket using the existing screw
- Connect the connectors on the bottom of the amplifier
- Install the amplifier on the studs
- Install and tighten the three nuts. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf. ft.)
- Install the insulation around the amplifier.
Reinstall:
- the side panel. Tighten using the screw at the front edge. Tighten the screws for the load securing eyelets. Tighten to 24 Nm (18 lbf. ft.)
- the lower panel on the C-post
- the rubber strip at the rear edge of the opening for the rear door
- the panel at the front/top of the side panel. Press downwards so that the catches engage. Tighten using the screw
- the side cushion
- the rubber strip in the boot lid opening
- the sill trim panel for the boot lid.
- Reinstall the cargo compartment carpet
- Fold the backrest and seat back into place.
- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead
- Go to point 24.
Points 15-23 apply to S40 (04-)
- Remove the cargo compartment carpet.
- Remove the upper floor supports on the left and right-hand sides if applicable.
Removing the sill trim panel from the tailgate:
- Unscrew the two external clips at the front edge/bottom edge of the sill trim panel on the tailgate
- Pry up one of the corners of the sill trim panel using a weatherstrip tool so that the two clips at that end release
- Pull up the sill trim panel at the other end so that the remaining two clips release. Remove the sill trim panel.
- Detach the rubber strip where it covers the left-hand side panel in the boot opening.
Removing the left-hand side panel:
- Remove the three clips (1) that hold the left-hand side panel in the bodywork
- Unhook the side panel from the mounting (2) on the underneath of the parcel shelf
- Fold out the rear edge of the side panel from the bodywork. At the same time unhook the side panel from the rear load securing eyelet
- Fold out the side panel so that the amplifier at the rear of the wheel arch is accessible.

Installing the amplifier:
- Remove the three nuts holding the amplifier to the body
- Pull the amplifier out slightly. Disconnect the three connectors on the underside. Put the amplifier to one side. It will not be used again
- Take the new amplifier from the kit. Connect the connectors on the underside
- Install the amplifier on the studs
- Install and tighten the three nuts. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf. ft.).

- Connect the connectors on the bottom of the amplifier
- Install the amplifier on the studs
- Install and tighten the three nuts. Tighten to 10 Nm (7.5 lbf. ft.).
- Hook the side panel back into place using its clips
- Reinstall the rubber strip in the boot lid opening
- Reinstall the sill trim panel in the boot opening
- Reinstall the upper floor supports if applicable
- Reinstall the cargo compartment carpet.
- Turn the ignition key to position II
- Reconnect the battery negative lead.
Applies to all models
- Program the function using VCT2000 in VIDA.
