- Remove the sill trim panel. Pull the sill trim panel straight upwards so that the clips release from the rear cross member.

Remove:
- the seals over the two centre nuts
- the four nuts (1)
- Disconnect the antenna connector (2).

- Raise the car
- Remove the rear wheels
- Carefully drill out the rivets holding the bumper cover on both sides. Use a 6 mm (15/64") diameter drill bit.

Note! Only the upper and lower rivets must be drilled out.

Turn the drill backwards and forwards. Try to prevent the rivets rotating. If necessary insert a thin bladed screwdriver under the rivet to prevent the rivet rotating.

Note! Do not damage the plastic components.

- Remove the bumper. Pull the bumper straight out from the car so that the clips release
- Pull the bumper straight back so that it releases from the car.

- Place the bumper on an underlay that will not damage the paint
- Install the backing paper. Evenly distribute the backing paper over the bumper.

- Remove the outer lock facings (1)
- Press down the lower catches (2)
- Remove the foam rubber from the bumper cover.

Note! Do not remove the antenna from the foam rubber.

- Clean the inside of the bumper.

Installing the sensors

- Pre-drill the holes through the centre of the markings (1). Use a 3 mm (1/8") diameter drill bit. Drill from the inside of the bumper cover
- Drill out the hole. Use a 8.5 mm (21/64") diameter drill bit.

- Drill out the holes in the bumper cover. Use a 31 mm diameter hole tool. Apply the cutting section of the tool on the outside of the bumper cover. Turn the cutting section so that it follows the shape of the bumper cover. This is to prevent the bumper cover being squeezed unnecessarily
- Screw the hole tool until the hole has been cut through the bumper cover
- Remove the plastic from the hole tool. Make the remaining holes in the same way.

- Take the sensors and holders from the kit
- Clean the sensors and the sensor holders using the wet cloth, P/N 9192678. Allow to dry
- Apply a thin layer of primer, P/N 8637076, over the sensors and the sensor holders.

Note! Only paint the parts that are visible after installation.

- Clean around the drilled holes using the wet cloth. Allow to dry
- Apply activator around the holes. Allow to dry.

Note! Only apply activator to the inside of the bumper.

- Clean the mounting surfaces on the sensor holders using the wet cloth. Allow to dry
- Apply activator to the cleaned surfaces of the sensor holders. Allow to dry.

- Remove the yellow protective film from one side of the tape
- Secure the tape on the sensor holder
- Carry out the above procedure on the remaining three sensor holders.

- Remove the orange protective film from the pieces of tape on the sensor holders
- Install the holders for the sensors. The narrow side must be pointing upward. Install horizontally in line with the bumper casing, as illustrated.

Note! The tape adheres immediately.

Caution! Incorrect positioning of the sensors may result in partial or complete malfunction.

- Connect the cable harness connectors to the sensors.

Note! A click should be heard when connecting. The noise confirms that the catch has locked.

- Install the sensors in the holders.

- Apply activator to the underside of the guide trim in the bumper cover where the cable harness is to be secured
- Secure the wiring harness using butyl tape
- Reinstall the foam rubber. Secure the foam rubber using all the clips.

- Route the cable from the sensors as illustrated. Ensure that the cable is clamped by all the clips. Secure the cable in the guide (1) using the white holder (2).

- Position the bumper so that sensors can be painted. Ensure that backing paper covers the area around the sensor holes.

Note! Ensure that the activator has dried, at least 10 minutes, before the paint is applied.

- Spray the sensor holders and the sensors. Use paint with the same colour code as the car. Use a Volvo recommended paint. Apply a maximum of two layers of paint.

Caution! Too many layers of paint may result in partial or complete malfunction.

- Lift the bumper into position
- Pull the cable harness for the sensors through the hole for the left guide of the bumper and route the cable
- Reinstall the antenna connector
- Reinstall the bumper. Locate the bumper in the rails (1). Push in.

Note! Ensure that the cable harness for the sensors are not trapped.

- Route the cable harness
- Reinstall the nuts. Tighten to 18 Nm (13 lbf.ft.)
- Install the seals over the nuts.

- Press all the mounting hooks for the bumper cover into place
- Install the liner on the bumper cover. Rivet the liner on both sides
- Reinstall the wheels. Tighten to 140 Nm (105 lbf.ft).

Installing the parking assistance module (PAM)

- Take the parking assistance module (PAM) from the kit. Connect the connector to the existing connector taped under the rear lamp.

- Connect the cable harness for the sensors, previously routed, to the control module.

- Clean the vertical panel surface under the member where the control module will be located. Use a mixture of 30% windscreen washer fluid and 70% water
- Apply activator to the panel surface under the member
- Allow the activator to dry completely, for at least 10 minutes.

- Remove the backing from the tape on the Velcro strap for the control module. Secure the control module to the activator covered panel surface below the member
- Press the tape on the Velcro strap hard so that the adhesive bonds.

Installing the switch

- Carefully pry off the gear selector lever panel (1). Use a weatherstrip tool.

- Move the gear selector lever to the rearmost position
- Pull the panel (1) with the boot backward as far as possible
- Remove the screws (2) from the dashboard environment panel (3).

- Carefully angle the dashboard environment panel out so that it is possible to insert a couple of fingers to gain access to the side of the dashboard environmental panel. Use a plastic weatherstrip tool
- Remove the dashboard environment panel. Pull the dashboard environment panel downwards while maintaining the same angle. Some force is required because the panel is tightly installed
- Disconnect the connectors on the reverse of the dashboard environment panel. Place the dashboard environment panel to one side.
