Passenger's airbag cutoff indicator stays on or comes on suddenlyNOTE:
- When no one is sitting the front passenger's seat, but there is an object on the seat more than 5 kg (11 lbs), the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator comes on.
- When no one is sitting in the front passenger's seat, but the seat belt is buckled, the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator comes on.
- When the seat weight is less than 30 kg (66 lbs) even an adult is sitting in the front passenger's seat, the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator comes on.
- The detected weight can be lighter than the actual weight depending on the seated position, and it does not weight the feet and legs that are resting on the floor.
- Do the "AFTER REPLACING FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT COMPONENT(S)" using the HDS whenever the seat or seat components are replaced or if the seat weight sensor is removed and installed.
- Do the "AFTER A VEHICLE COLLISION" using the HDS after a vehicle collision, regardless of the airbag deployment.
- Make sure that the front passenger's seat components are installed correctly.
- Make sure there is nothing on the front passenger's seat.
- Make sure there is nothing in the front passenger's seat-back pocket.
1. Check for these items, then recheck the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator.
- The front passenger's seat is installed correctly.
- Nothing is/was on the front passenger's seat.
- Nothing is/was under the front passenger's seat.
- Nothing is/was in the front passenger's seat-back pocket.
- Whoever was sitting on the passenger's seat was sitting in the proper sitting position.
Does the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator stay on?
YES - Go to step 2.
NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
2. Connect the HDS to the DLC.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
4. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the SRS unit. If it does not communicate troubleshoot the DLC circuit.
5. Select the INSPECTION menu on the HDS, then select AFTER REPLACING FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT COMPONENT(S), and follows the prompts.
Does the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator stay on?
YES - Go to step 6.
NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
6. Select the INSPECTION menu on the HDS, then select AFTER A VEHICLE COLLISION, and follow the prompts.
Does the passenger's airbag cutoff indicator stay on?
YES - Faulty SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.
NO - Troubleshooting is complete.
