Symptom Troubleshooting: Audio system information does not display on the audio-navigation switch panel display

Audio system information does not display on the audio-navigation switch panel display (with ELS audio system)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first. Testing and Inspection

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Remove the audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation (With Navigation) and the audio unit. Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With AcuraLink)

2. Check the connections at the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and audio unit connector B (20P).

Are the connectors and terminals connected properly?
YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Repair the connection, and recheck.

3. Disconnect the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector.

4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

5. Measure the voltage between body ground and the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminals No. 21 and No. 22 individually.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Repair an open in the wire between No. 15 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminal No. 22, or repair open in the wire between the No. 16 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminal No. 21.

6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

7. Reconnect audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector.

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

9. Measure the voltage between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminal No. 10 and body ground.

Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES - Go to step 10.

NO - Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector terminal No 10 and body ground (G401).

10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

11. Disconnect audio unit connector B (20P).

12. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (20P) and the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector according to the table.

Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 13.

NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Repair or replace the affected harness.

13. Check for continuity between the terminals of the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and audio unit connector B (20P) terminal No. 16.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Repair or replace the affected harness.

NO - Go to step 14.

14. Check for continuity between audio unit connector B (20P) terminals No. 6 and No. 7.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the audio-navigation switch panel. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel, Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation (With Navigation) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation switch panel. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good audio unit, Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With AcuraLink) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio unit.
