Shock Absorber Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the left rear wheel house panel. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Using the appropriate tool, disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the retainer (1).
5. Using the appropriate tool, disconnect the electrical connectors (2) and (3).
6. Support the lower control arm (2) with a suitable hydraulic jack stand (1).
7. Remove the shock absorber bolts (1).
8. Remove the shock absorber bolt (1).
9. Remove the rear shock absorber (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Position the rear shock absorber in the vehicle (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the shock absorber bolts (1) and tighten to 100 Nm (74 lb ft).
3. Install the shock absorber bolt (1) and tighten to 150 Nm (111 lb ft)
4. Reconnect the electrical connectors (2) and (3).
5. Install the electrical connector (2) in the retainer (1).
6. Remove the hydraulic jack stand (1) from the lower control arm (3).
7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
