Water Pump: Service and Repair

Water Pump:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable. Drain the cooling system.
2. Accessory drive belts.
3. Upper fan shroud .
4. Fan and fan clutch assembly.
5. Water pump pulley.
6. Clamps and hoses.
7. Bolts and stud.
8. Water pump.
9. Gasket.

INSPECT
All parts and replace as necessary.

CAUTION Be sure all mating surfaces are free of burrs or other imperfections.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Gasket in place.
2. Water pump.
3. Bolts and stud.
^ Coat the bolt threads with sealant 1052080 or equivalent.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
^ Studs to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
4. Clamps and hoses.
5. Water pump pulley.
6. Fan and fan clutch assembly.
7. Accessory drive belts.
8. Upper fan shroud.
9. Coolant, properly mixed.
10. Negative battery cable.
^ Start the engine and check for leaks.
