Wheel Cylinder Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Brake Dust Caution (Brake Dust Caution) .
Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution (Brake Fluid Irritant Caution) .
1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the rear brake shoe assembly. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement (Service and Repair) .
3. Remove the brake line from the wheel cylinder.
4. Using a plug, plug the brake line as not to allow dirt or the brake fluid to be contaminated.
5. Remove the mounting bolts for the wheel cylinder.
6. Remove the wheel cylinder from the backing plate.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the wheel cylinder to the backing plate.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .
2. Install the wheel cylinder mounting bolts.
Tighten the wheel cylinder mounting bolts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).
3. Remove the rubber plug from the brake line.
4. Install the brake line to the wheel cylinder.
5. Install the brake line fitting.
Tighten the brake line fitting to 19 N.m (14 lb ft).
6. Install the rear brake shoes. Refer to Brake Shoe Replacement (Service and Repair) .
7. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) (Service and Repair)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) (Service and Repair) .
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Check the fluid lever in the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling (Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling) .
