Vacuum Pump: Service and Repair




Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement (2.4L)

Removal Procedure

1. With the engine OFF, apply and release the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
2. Remove the power brake booster vacuum sensor. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Replacement (2.4L) (Service and Repair)Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Replacement (3.0L) (Service and Repair)




3. Release the spring clamp (1) and remove the power brake booster vacuum hose (2) from the intake manifold vacuum port.
4. Release the power brake booster vacuum hose from the routing clip (3) on the oil level indicator tube bracket.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair)




6. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum hose quick connect (1).
7. Remove the power brake booster vacuum hose and check valve assembly.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the power brake booster vacuum hose and check valve assembly.
2. Connect the power brake booster vacuum hose quick connect (1).
3. Lower the vehicle.





Note: A small amount of denatured alcohol may be used to ease assembly. Do not use soap.

4. Release the tension on the spring clamp (1) and install the power brake booster vacuum hose (2) to the intake manifold vacuum port.
5. Install the power brake booster vacuum hose to the routing clip (3) on the oil level indicator tube bracket.
6. Install the power brake booster vacuum sensor. Refer to Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Replacement (2.4L) (Service and Repair)Power Brake Booster Vacuum Sensor Replacement (3.0L) (Service and Repair)
