Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side (2500)
Removal Procedure
1. Release the park brake.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Remove the parking brake equalizer adjuster nut (1).
4. Compress the locking tabs and release the left rear parking brake cable retainer (1) from the frame.
5. Pull the parking brake cable through the parking brake cable guides (1) on the left frame rail.
6. Remove the parking brake cable bracket bolt (1).
7. Disconnect the parking brake cable eye (1) from the parking brake actuator lever.
8. Release the parking brake cable locking tabs, remove the parking brake cable from the cable bracket by compressing the parking brake cable spring toward the cable eye and passing the cable through the cable bracket slot.
9. Remove the parking brake cable.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the parking brake cable to the vehicle.
2. Connect the parking brake cable eye (1) to the parking brake actuator lever.
3. Install the parking brake cable to the cable bracket by compressing the parking brake cable spring toward the cable eye and passing the cable through the cable bracket slot.
4. Ensure the parking brake cable conduit is fully seated in the cable bracket.
5. Feed the parking brake cable through the parking brake cable guides (1) on the left frame rail.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
6. Install the parking brake cable bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
7. Compress the locking tabs and install the left rear parking brake cable retainer (1) to the frame.
8. Loosely install the parking brake equalizer adjuster nut (1).
9. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment (1500) Parking Brake Adjustment (1500)Parking Brake Adjustment (2500) Parking Brake Adjustment (2500).
