Normal Operation
The safety belt switch is hardwired directly to the instrument cluster through control circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK). When the safety belt is not fastened, the safety belt switch closes to ground through circuit 31-GE52 (BK/RD) and provides a ground to the instrument cluster through the control circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK). When the safety belt is fastened, the safety belt switch opens and removes the ground to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster uses the grounding input from the safety belt switch to turn on or off the safety belt warning indicator according to the safety belt switch status.
Possible Causes
- circuit 8-GE52 (WH/BK) open, short to power or ground
- circuit 31-GE52 (BK/RD) open
- safety belt switch (part of buckle end)
- instrument cluster
