Pinpoint Test X: The Door Ajar Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On
Normal Operation
The door ajar indicator informs the driver if any of the doors, the luggage compartment lid or the hood is not completely closed. The door ajar information is sent from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) to the Instrument Cluster (IC) over the communication network.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Interior lamps concern
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Hood ajar switch
- SJB
- IC
PINPOINT TEST X: THE DOOR AJAR WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON
-------------------------------------------------
X1 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR LAMPS
- Open and close each door and the luggage compartment lid and monitor the interior lamps.
- Do the interior lamps and luggage compartment lamp operate correctly?
Yes
GO to X2.
No
REFER to Interior Lighting Testing and Inspection.

X2 CARRY OUT THE IC WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IC DataLogger.
- Select the IC door ajar warning lamp (DRAJARLMP) active command. Command the door ajar warning lamp on and off. Observe the door ajar warning indicator.
- Does the door ajar warning indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes
GO to X3.
No
INSTALL a new IC. REFER to Instrument Cluster (IC) Instrument Cluster (IC). TEST the system for normal operation.

X3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IC SELF-TEST
- Check for recorded IC DTCs from the self-test.
- Are any DTCs recorded?
Yes
For DTC U0140, GO to Pinpoint Test AO. Pinpoint Tests AO: DTC U0140
For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts. Instrumentation, Message Center and Warning Chimes
No
If equipped with perimeter alarm, GO to X4.
If not equipped with perimeter alarm, INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

X4 CHECK THE HOOD AJAR INPUT TO THE SJB
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB DataLogger.
- Select the SJB hood ajar PID (HOOD_SW). Monitor the hood ajar PID with the hood closed and with the hood open.
- Does the hood ajar PID match the hood position?
Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REFER to Anti-Theft - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Testing and Inspection to diagnose the alarm does not activate with hood ajar/open.
