Pinpoint Test F: The Demand Lamp(s) Are Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89, Interior Lamps for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The Smart Junction Box (SJB) supplies voltage to the demand lamps when the battery saver feature is not active.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Interior/map lamps
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST F: THE DEMAND LAMP(S) ARE INOPERATIVE

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK THE COURTESY LAMP OPERATION

- Check the operation of the courtesy lamps with any door open.
- Are the courtesy lamps on with any door open?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
GO to Pinpoint Test C. Pinpoint Test C: The Interior Courtesy Lamp(s) Are Inoperative

-------------------------------------------------
F2 DETERMINE IF BOTH DEMAND LAMPS ARE OPERATIVE

- Operate the demand lamp function from both interior lamps.
- Is the demand lamp function inoperative from both lamps?

Yes
GO to F4.

No
GO to F3.

-------------------------------------------------
F3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE INOPERATIVE DEMAND LAMP

- Disconnect: Inoperative Interior Lamp.
- Measure the voltage between the front interior lamp C931-3, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and ground; or between the rear interior lamp C901a-1, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new interior lamp. REFER to Interior Lamp Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR circuit CLN09 (YE/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
F4 BYPASS THE SJB

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: SJB C2280d.
- Connect a fused jumper wire between the SJB C2280d-21, circuit CLN09 (YE/GN), harness side and battery positive.

- Does the demand lamp illuminate when switched on?

Yes
REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR circuit CLN09 (YE/GN) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REMOVE the jumper wire. GO to F5.

-------------------------------------------------
F5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION

- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
