Pinpoint Test F: DTC U2472

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 13, Power Distribution/SJB for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The ignition switch receives fused battery voltage along circuit SBP27 (BU/RD) from Smart Junction Box (SJB) fuse 27 (20A). The ignition switch then sends that voltage out to the SJB and the Battery Junction Box (BJB) depending on ignition switch position. The SJB monitors circuit CDC32 (BN/YE) (run/start) and circuit CDC33 (VT/GN) (run/accessory) at all times.

- DTC U2472 (Unexpected Ignition State) - DTC U2472 will only set during the on-demand self test if the SJB cannot detect the RUN signal or cannot detect the ignition switch state at all during the self-test.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Ignition switch
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST F: DTC U2472

NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.

-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH

- Ignition OFF.
- Carry out the Ignition Switch - Electrical Component Test.
- Is the ignition switch OK?

Yes
GO to F2.

No
INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch Ignition Switch. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK THE SJB ECU DERIVED IGNITION STATE RUN (IGN_R_ECU) PID

- Connect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Connect the scan tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DataLogger SJB.
- Monitor the IGN_R_ECU PID while turning the ignition key from OFF to RUN.
- Does the PID display YES when the ignition key is in the RUN position and NO when it is not?

Yes
GO to F3.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC32 (BN/YE). CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
F3 CHECK THE SJB ECU DERIVED IGNITION STATE ACC (IGN_A_ECU) PID

- Monitor the IGN_A_ECU PID while turning the ignition key from OFF to ACC.
- Does the PID display YES when the ignition key is in the ACC position and NO when it is not?

Yes
GO to F4.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
F4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to Multifunction Electronic Modules Service and Repair. REPEAT the self-test.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
