Front Seat Belt Replacement

Front Seat Belt

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Check the front seat belts for damage Testing and Inspection, and replace them if necessary.
- If replacing the front seat belts after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

1. Slide the front seat forward fully.

2. Carefully pry up on the bottom edge of the anchor cover (A) to release the hooks, then remove the cover by pulling it upward.

3. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

4. Remove the lower anchor bolt (A).





5. Remove the B-pillar lower trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas.

6. Remove the upper anchor cover (A), and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).






7. Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (A) from the retractor (B). Remove the retractor mounting bolt (C) and the retractor bolt (D), then remove the front seat belt (E) and the retractor.





8. Remove the B-pillar upper trim Interior Trim Removal/Installation - Pillar Areas.

9. Remove the shoulder anchor adjuster (A).






10. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions Testing and Inspection.
- Assemble the washers, the collar, and the bushing on the upper and lower anchor bolts as shown.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.

Front Seat Belt Buckle

NOTE:

- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- If replacing the front seat belt buckle tensioner after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2. Remove the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.

3. Passenger's seat: Remove the center table Front Seat Center Table Replacement (for some models).

4. Remove the recline inner cover:

- 8-way power seat Front Seat Recline Cover Removal/Installation

5. Disconnect the seat subharness connector (A). Detach the seat belt buckle tensioner connector (B) and the harness clip (C). Disconnect the seat belt buckle switch connector (D) and the harness wire tie (E).

6. Remove the center anchor bolt (A), then remove the seat belt buckle (B).





7. Pull out the seat belt switch/seat belt buckle tensioner harness (C) through the space between the seat cushion and the seat linkage (driver's seat), or the hole in the seat track (passenger's seat).

8. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Assemble the washers and the collar on the center anchor bolt as shown.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Apply liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly.
