Intake Manifold: Service and Repair




Intake Manifold Removal and Installation

Exploded View





NOTE: Refer to the Exploded View if needed during this procedure.

Removal

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure.

2. Disconnect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (A).





3. Disconnect the vacuum hose (B) and the breather pipe (C), then remove the intake air duct (D).

4. Remove the engine cover.






5. Disconnect the EVAP canister hose (A), the MAP sensor connector (B), and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).





6. Remove the harness bracket mounting bolts (D).

7. Disconnect the water bypass hoses (A), then plug the water bypass hoses.





8. Disconnect the throttle body connector (B).

9. Remove the front grille cover.






10. Disconnect the fan motor connectors (A), the ECT sensor 2 connector (B), and the A/C compressor clutch connector (C), then remove the harness clamps (D).






11. Remove the upper brackets and the cushions (A), then remove the bulkhead (B).






12. Remove the coolant reservoir (A), then remove the A/C condenser fan shroud (B).






13. Raise the vehicle on the lift.

14. Disconnect the connectors (A), then remove the intake manifold bracket (B).





15. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

16. Remove the intake manifold.






Installation

1. Install the intake manifold (A) with a new gasket (B), and tighten the bolts/nuts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.





2. Raise the vehicle on the lift.

3. Install the intake manifold bracket (A), then connect the connectors (B).





4. Lower the vehicle on the lift.

5. Install the A/C condenser fan shroud (A), then install the coolant reservoir (B).






6. Install the bulkhead (A), then install the upper bracket and the cushions (B).






7. Install the harness clamps (A), then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector (B), the ECT sensor 2 connector (C), and the fan motor connectors (D).






8. Install the front grille cover.






9. Connect the water bypass hoses (A).





10. Connect the throttle body connector (B).

11. Connect the EVAP canister hose (A), the MAP sensor connector (B), and the brake booster vacuum hose (C).





12. Install the harness bracket mounting bolts (D).

13. Install the engine cover.






14. Install the intake air duct (A), then connect the breather pipe (B) and the vacuum hose (C).





15. Connect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor connector (D).

16. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

17. After installation, check that all tubes, hoses, and connectors are installed correctly.

18. Clean up any spilled engine coolant.

19. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed the air from the cooling system with the heater valve open Service and Repair.
