SRS DTC Troubleshooting: 82-11

DTC 82-11:

No Signal From the Inner Side Front Passenger's Weight Sensor

NOTE:

- Before doing this troubleshooting procedure, review SRS Precautions and Procedures Service and Repair and General Troubleshooting Information Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
- These SWS DTCs are cleared by turning the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

1. Clear the DTC memory.

2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

3. Read the DTC.

Is DTC 82-11 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 4.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures. If another DTC is indicated, troubleshoot the DTC.�

4. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then Inspection. In the Inspection Menu, select SWS DTC CHECK.

Is an SWS DTC also indicated?

YES -

- DTC 11-11: Short to power in the front passenger's weight sensor (inner side) power circuit; Go to step 5.
- DTC 11-12: Short to ground in the front passenger's weight sensor (inner side) power circuit; Go to step 11.

NO -

Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.�

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect the ODS unit harness 2P connector from the front passenger's weight sensor (inner side) Service and Repair.

7. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

8. Clear the DTC memory.

9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

10. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then Inspection. In the Inspection Menu, select SWS DTC CHECK.

Is SWS DTC 11-11 indicated?

YES -

Short to power in the ODS unit harness; replace the ODS unit harness, then clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC is still present, replace the ODS unit ODS Unit Replacement.�

NO -

Faulty front passenger's weight sensor (inner side); replace the inner side front passenger's weight sensor Service and Repair, then clear the DTC.�

11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

12. Disconnect the ODS unit harness 2P connector from the front passenger's weight sensor (inner side) Service and Repair.

13. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

14. Clear the DTC memory.

15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then wait for 10 seconds.

16. From the HDS Main Menu, select SRS, then Inspection. In the Inspection Menu, select SWS DTC CHECK.

Is SWS DTC 11-12 indicated?

YES -

Go to step 17.

NO -

Faulty front passenger's weight sensor (inner side); replace the inner side front passenger's weight sensor Service and Repair, then clear the DTC.�

17. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

18. Measure the resistance between body ground and ODS unit harness 2P connector terminal No. 2. There should be an open circuit or at least 1 MOhms.





Is the resistance as specified?

YES -

Faulty ODS unit; replace the ODS unit ODS Unit Replacement, then clear the DTC.�

NO -

Short to ground in the ODS unit harness; replace the ODS unit harness, then clear the DTC.�
