Tailgate Latch Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the tailgate.
- Take care not to bend the tailgate opener rod.
- The left side is shown; the right side is similar.

1. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel .

2. Remove the tailgate latch (A).

1. Disconnect the tailgate opener rod (B) from the tailgate handle (C).

2. Disconnect the latch switch connector (D), and detach it.

3. Remove the screws securing the latch.

4. Remove the latch through the hole in the tailgate.





3. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the rod is connected securely.
- Make sure the tailgate opener rod actuates the latch before you close the tailgate.
- Make sure the tailgate opens properly and locks securely.
