Front Passenger's Airbag Replacement
NOTE: If replacing the front passenger's airbag after deployment, Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Removal
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Remove the passenger's dashboard trim Passenger's Dashboard Trim Removal/Installation.
3. Remove the passenger's tray Interior Moulding / Trim, then remove the connector clip. Disconnect the front passenger's airbag 4P connector (A) from the dashboard wire harness (B).
4. Remove the mounting nuts (A) and mounting bolts (B) from the bracket (C).
5. Remove the mounting nuts (A) of the hook plate (B) from the front passenger's airbag (C).
6. Release the hooks (A) of the hook plate (B) from the front passenger's airbag housing (C) of the dashboard panel, then remove the hook plate.
7. Remove the front passenger's airbag (A) from the front passenger's airbag housing (B) of the dashboard panel.
Installation
1. Install the hooks of the front passenger's airbag (A) into the front passenger's airbag housing (B) of the dashboard panel.
2. Insert the hooks (A) of the hook plate (B) into the front passenger's airbag housing (C) of the dashboard panel.
3. Install the hook plate (A) with new mounting nuts (B).
4. Install the support bracket (A) with new mounting bolts (B) and new mounting nuts (C).
5. Connect the dashboard wire harness 4P connector (A) to the front passenger's airbag 4P connector (B), then install the connector clip. Reinstall the passenger's dashboard trim Passenger's Dashboard Trim Removal/Installation.
6. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.
7. Clear any DTCs with the HDS.
8. After installing the airbag, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
