Moonroof Frame and Drain Tube Replacement

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the interior trim or the body, or tear the seat covers.

1. Remove these items:

- Headliner Service and Repair
- Moonroof glass Service and Repair

2. Disconnect the motor connector (A) and open/close-tilt/close switch connector (B). Remove the moonroof relays (C), and detach the harness clip (D).






3. Disconnect the drain tubes (A), and detach the drain tube clip (B).






4. With an assistant holding the frame (A), remove the bolts starting at the rear, and release the rear hooks (B) by moving the frame forward.





5. With the help of an assistant, carefully remove the frame through the front door opening.

Front drain tube

6. Remove the kick panel, driver's or passenger's Service and Repair, then pull out the drain valve (A) from the body hole. Tie a string to the top end of the drain tube, then pull down the front drain tube (B) out of the A-pillar. Leave the string in the pillar to use when reinstalling the drain tube.






Rear drain tube

7. Remove these items:

- Rear panel insulator Rear Panel Insulator Replacement
- Side curtain airbag, as needed Side Curtain Airbag Replacement

8. At the passenger's side C-pillar, below the rear window frame, remove the foam insert (A) through the hole.






9. At the passenger's side C-pillar, below the seat belt retractor, remove the foam insert (A) through the hole. On the driver's side, release the fuel fill door opener cable (B) from the slit (C) in the foam insert.






10. Disconnect the drain tube (A), and remove the clips, then remove the drain tube joint (B).






11. Pull out the rear drain valve (A) from the body hole. Tie a string to the end of the drain tube (B), then pull down the drain tube out of the C-pillar.






12. Install the frame and the drain tube in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Before installing the frame, clear the drain tubes and the drain valves using compressed air.
- When installing a drain tube, tie the string that was pulled through the pillar during the disassembly to the top end of the new drain tube, pull it up through the pillar to the moonroof frame.
- Check the frame seal.
- Clean the surface of the frame.
- When installing the frame, first attach the rear hooks into the body holes.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
- When connecting the drain tubes, slide them over the frame nozzles at least 10 mm (0.39 in).
- Install the tube clips (A) on the drain tubes (B) as shown.
- Make sure the clips are not rubbing on any parts or body panels.





13. Check for water leaks. Let the water runs freely from a hose without a nozzle. Do not use a high-pressure spray.
