Side airbag cutoff indicator stays on

1. Make sure nothing is on the front passenger's seat.

2. Make sure the seat-back is dry.

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and see if the SRS indicator comes on.

Does the SRS indicator come on and stay on?

YES -

Go to the Symptom Troubleshooting "SRS indicator stay on, but no DTCs are stored, or cannot be read".�

NO -

Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

6. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

7. Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the SRS unit. If it does not communicate, troubleshoot the DLC circuit Testing and Inspection.

8. From the HDS Main Menu, select BODY ELECTRICAL, then select the desired MODE MENU.

9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC B1187 indicated?

YES -

Troubleshoot DTC B1187 B1187.�

NO -

Go to step 10.

10. Do the gauge control module self-diagnostic function Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview.

Does the side airbag cutoff indicator flash?

YES -

Do the ODS unit initialization Programming and Relearning, and retest. If problem is still present, replace the seat-back cover/pad with equipped OPDS sensor Front Seat-Back Cover/Pad Replacement, and retest. If the problem is still present, replace the SRS unit SRS Unit Replacement.�

NO -

Faulty gauge control module; replace the gauge control module Service and Repair.�
