Front Seat Belt Replacement

Front seat belt

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

- Check the front seat belts for damage Testing and Inspection, and replace them if necessary.
- If replacing the front seat belt after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when removing components.
- Take care not to tear or damage the seat covers.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.

1. Slide the front seat fully forward.

2. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

3. Driver's seat belt: Pull back the lower anchor cover (A), and remove the lower anchor bolt (B).






4. Passenger's seat belt: Remove the rear outer seat track cover. Remove the bolt (A), and release the hook (B), then remove the lower anchor bracket (C) from the outer side front passenger's weight sensor (D).

NOTE: Do not remove the seat belt anchor bolt (E) from the lower anchor bracket.





5. Remove these items:

- Front door sill trim Service and Repair
- Rear door sill trim Service and Repair

6. Remove the B-pillar lower trim.

7. Remove the upper anchor cover (A), and remove the upper anchor bolt (B).






8. Disconnect the seat belt tensioner connector (A). Remove the upper retractor mounting bolt (B) and the lower retractor bolt (C), then remove the front seat belt (D) and the retractor (E).

9. If necessary, remove the front seat belt protector (F).

10. Remove the B-pillar upper trim.

11. Remove the shoulder anchor adjuster (A).

NOTE: Inspect the anchor adjuster for damage, and replace it if necessary.






12. Install the seat belt in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the anchor bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Check that the retractor locking mechanism functions as described Testing and Inspection.
- Assemble the washers, the collars, and the bushings on the upper and lower anchor bolts as shown.
- If the seat belt tensioner has been deployed, replace the seat belt protector with a new one.
- Before installing the anchor bolts, make sure there are no twists or kinks in the seat belt.
- Make sure the seat belt tensioner connector is plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.

Seat Belt Buckle

NOTE:

- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
- Take care not to scratch the body or tear the seat covers.
- DTC codes will set if the ignition is turned ON (II) with the seats removed.

1. Remove the front seat Front Seat Removal/Installation.

2. Remove the center cover Front Seat Cushion Cover/Pad Replacement.

3. Driver's 10-way power seat: From under the seat cushion, release the elastic straps from the seat cushion frame springs, then pull back the undercover of the seat-back cover.

4. Disconnect and detach the seat belt switch connector (A), and detach the harness clip(s) (B).

Driver's manual height adjustable seat: Remove the seat position sensor harness connector (C) from the seat belt switch connector.

5. Except driver's manual height adjustable seat: Release the hook strip (A) and pull back the seat-back cover.

6. Remove the anchor bolt (B), and release the wire tie (C) fastening the seat belt switch harness and the seat wire harness (D) to the seat frame wire (E) (driver's 10-way power seat) or detach the harness clip (F)(except driver's 10-way power seat) , then remove the seat belt buckle (G).

7. Pull out the seat belt switch harness (H) through the space between the seat cushion and the seat linkage.

8. Install the buckle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

- Assemble the washers, the stopper plate, and the bushing on the center anchor bolt as shown.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the center anchor bolt before reinstallation.
- Driver's 10-way power seat: Replace the wire tie with a new one. Fasten the seat belt switch harness and the seat wire harness to the seat frame wire with the wire tie at the white mark in the harness.
- Apply medium strength liquid thread lock to the seat mounting bolts before reinstallation.
- Tighten the bolts by hand first, then tighten to the specified torque.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure.
