Rear Driveshaft Removal
Special Tools Required
- Ball Joint Thread Protector, 12 mm 07AAF-SDAA100
- Driveshaft Remover 07AAD-S9VA000
- Ball Joint Remover, 28 mm 07MAC-SL0A202
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the brake hose, sensor, and harness.
1. Raise and support the vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the rear wheels.
3. Pry up the stake (A) on the spindle nut (B), then remove the nut.
4. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor (A).
5. Remove the lock pin (A) from the upper arm ball joint castle nut (B), and remove the nut.
6. Separate the ball joint from the upper arm (C) using the 12 mm ball joint thread protector (D) and the 28 mm ball joint remover (E).
7. Remove the flange nut (B), the washer (C), and the flange bolt (D), then remove the lower arm A.
8. Remove the flange bolt (A) and separate the knuckle from the lower arm B.
9. Pull the knuckle outward, and separate the outboard joint from the rear hub using a soft face hammer.
10. Use the driveshaft remover (A), pry out the inboard joint (B) from the differential (C).
NOTE: This is a prying tool; do not strike it with a hammer.
11. Remove the rear driveshaft.
NOTE: When removing the outboard joint, the knuckle is supported with a floor jack. Make sure not to over extend the brake hose.
12. Remove the set ring (A) from the rear differential.
