Steering Column Lock: Testing and Inspection




A/T Key Interlock Solenoid Test

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations for 4-door, SRS Component Location Index (4-Door) for 2-door SRS Component Location Index (2-Door) and the precautions and procedures Technician Safety Information before doing repairs or service.

1. Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover Drivers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation and the column cover. Service and Repair

2. Disconnect the steering lock assembly 6P connector.

3. Insert the ignition key in the key cylinder, then turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY (I).

4. Connect the positive battery terminal to steering lock assembly 6P connector terminal No. 4, and connect the negative battery terminal to No. 3 terminal. Check that the ignition key cannot be turned to LOCK (0). Release the battery terminals, and check that the key can be turned to LOCK (0) and removed from the cylinder.

5. If the key interlock solenoid works improperly, replace the ignition key cylinder/steering lock assembly. Service and Repair

6. Install the driver's dashboard lower cover Drivers Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation and the column cover. Service and Repair
