Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 6 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Go to step 3.

NO -

Go to step 2.

2. Measure the voltage between audio unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 6 and body ground.





Is there battery voltage?

YES -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 6 and audio unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 6.

NO -

Replace the audio unit:

- With navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation).
- Without navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation).

3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 10 and body ground.





Is there less than 0.2 V?

YES -

Go to step 5.

NO -

Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 10 and audio unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 10.

5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

6. Disconnect these items:

- Audio unit connector E (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)

7. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 5 and body ground.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Repair a shot to body ground in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 5 and audio unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 5.

NO -

Go to step 8.

8. Check for continuity between audio unit connector E (14P) terminal No. 5 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 5.





Is there continuity?

YES -

Go to step 9.

NO -

Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.

9. With navigation, disconnect the navigation display unit 28P connector.

10. Check for continuity between audio unit connector E (14P) and body ground according to the table.









Is there continuity?

YES -

There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 11.

11. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector E (14P) according to the table.









Is there continuity between any of the terminals?

YES -

There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO -

Go to step 12.

12. Check for continuity between audio unit connector E (14P) and XM receiver connector A (14P) according to the table.













Is there continuity?

YES -

Substitute a known-good audio unit; with navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation), without navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation), and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the audio unit; with navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation), without navigation Audio Unit Removal/Installation (Without Navigation). If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation.

NO -

There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
