Front Safety Belt Buckle

Removal

WARNING: Persons working on the supplemental restraint system (SRS) must be fully trained and have been issued with the safety guidelines.

WARNING: Allow a period of 10 minutes to elapse after disconnecting the battery before undertaking any work on the SRS.

WARNING: The SRS electrical connectors are unique. DO NOT force, or attempt to connect electrical connectors to the wrong sockets.

WARNING: The correct procedures must always be used when working on SRS components.

WARNING: It is imperative that before any work is undertaken on the SRS system, the appropriate information is read thoroughly.

WARNING: Always disconnect both battery cables before beginning work on the SRS system. Disconnect the ground cable first. Never reverse connect the battery.

WARNING: Take extra care when handling SRS components.
1 Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Procedures
2 Make the air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) safe. For additional information, refer to Standard Workshop Practices
3 Remove the front seat. For additional information, refer to Front Seat Front Seat




4 Release the 2 lower tension straps from the front seat base.
- Reposition the front seat backrest cover for access.




5 Remove the front seat side trim panel support.
- Release the 2 clips.




6 Remove the front seat backrest hinge cover.
- Remove the 2 screws.
- Release the clip.




7 Disconnect the front safety belt buckle electrical connector.
- Release the wiring harness clip.




8 Remove the front safety belt buckle.
- Remove and discard the bolt.

Installation
1 Install the front safety belt buckle.
- Install a new bolt and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb.ft).
2 Connect the front safety belt buckle electrical connector.
- Secure the wiring harness clip.

WARNING: Make sure the front safety belt buckle wiring harness is correctly routed and secured in the position shown. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: Make sure the front safety belt buckle wiring harness is correctly routed and secured in the position shown. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.
Reposition the front safety belt buckle wiring harness.
4 Install the front seat backrest hinge cover.
- Secure the clip.
- Install the 2 screws.
5 Install the front seat side trim panel support.
- Secure the 2 clips.
6 Secure the 2 lower tension straps to the front seat base.
- Reposition the front seat backrest cover.
7 Install the front seat. For additional information, refer to Front Seat Front Seat
8 Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Procedures
