POWER STEERING: STEERING GEAR (w/ VGRS): REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
2. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
4. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS
5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Service and Repair
6. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER Removal
7. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER PROTECTOR LOWER Removal
8. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE WITH SHAFT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
9. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the clip and nut.
(b) Install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the tie rod assembly LH so that there is a space of approximately 1 mm (0.0397in.) between the arm and spacers.

NOTICE:
- Make sure to install the spacers (SST spacer B) as the steering knuckle spacer may shift.
- As SST may become damaged, make sure the space between the arm and spacers is not 1 mm (0.0397 in.) or less.
(c) Using SST, disconnect the tie rod assembly from the steering knuckle.

NOTICE:
- Do not damage the dust cover.
- As the dust cover may be damaged, adjust SST with the center nut so that the body and crow are the parallel.
- Make sure to tie the string of SST to the vehicle to prevent SST from dropping.
10. DISCONNECT TIE ROD ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
11. REMOVE POWER STEERING LINK ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 3 clips and disconnect the 5 connectors.
(b) Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and power steering link from the front frame and rack housing bracket.
